The East Midlands Road Race Championships, which will include the West Midlands Women’s Championships, is set to take place on the roads in and around the villages of Willoughby and Widmerpool.

This highly anticipated event is scheduled for Sunday, June 11, 2023, and is being supported by British Cycling. Please come along to support and spectate if you can!

As the event passes through the village, there will be some minor disruptions to road traffic, with a rolling road closure of up to 2 minutes being enforced by the Police, NEG, and Accredited marshals.

While there are no legal parking restrictions in place, residents are kindly requested to avoid parking on the race route between 9am – 5pm to ensure the highest level of safety for the riders. The route goes down West Thorpe (from Wysall) turns left onto Back Lane then left again onto London Lane, crossing over Main Street onto Widmerpool Lane and heading out towards Widmerpool.

Race times:
Women: 9:00 – 11:15 (approx)
Men: 13:00 – 16:30 (approx)

The event will feature the best of the best in both the men’s and women’s fields, including current National Champions, several Pro riders who are currently competing in Europe, and amateurs from across the region. Local spectators are encouraged to watch the race, with live updates being posted via social media @hhcritseries.
