Willoughby’s popular Open Gardens event will take place on 21st June, 2020. Our 2018 event was hugely successful, raising over £6,000 for the village and local charities!
In 2020 we expect to have even more gardens open to the public than in 2018, along with the usual refreshments available, including ploughman’s lunches and cakes etc. There will be activities for the children on the day and planning is underway between the school and the parks committee to consider the development of a small school children’s garden which hopefully will provide a new aspect to the gardens of the village.
We will of course have many of the other familiar events during the day including:
- children’s activities
- sales of ice cream
- WI stall
- Pimms (donations to Rainbows)
- Ratcliffe Choral and other live music
- plant sales
- an exciting raffle,
in addition to which other fundraising events and activities are being planned. The church bells will be rung during the afternoon too.
In 2018 the sun shone and everyone had a fantastic time. We are hoping for the same again in 2020 but come rain or shine this is always a great day for the village and is not only attended by the residents of Willoughby and our surrounding villages but by people from far and wide.
Anyone wishing to get involved, either by offering to open their garden or organise or support an activity, should contact Neil Clifton on firstname.lastname@example.org, or mob 07790 31066.
Everything we raise goes to support village groups and local charities so please put the date in your diary, invite your family friends and colleagues and come and join us for what is always a great fun day out!
