Willoughby’s beautiful Millennium Wood is maintained by a wonderful team of volunteers.
Now led by Dick Merriman – and before that for many years by Brian Thornally – the team looks after the trees, maintains the pathways and sees that any jobs that need doing are done either by them or by contractors.
Last month, Dick and 5 others from the Willoughby Wood Volunteers planted 350+ daffodil bulbs, in the grass verge along Main Street by the Wood – from the Bowls Club to the T-junction with Back Lane.
The trees were cut back in January, and the Council recently cut the grass, so they hope the spring flowers will restore this once attractive route into the village.
Thank you to Dick and his team for the brilliant work they do so that we can all enjoy this fantastic village location!
Thank you for all that you do making our village beautiful. We are very lucky to live in such a wonderful area
Our family absolutely love walking around the woods as did our recently lost Labrador Sandy and now our new puppy Labrador Millie is quickly learning the excitement of exploring all the lovely smells there
Thank you all again
